ASIAN TURTLES IN DANGER

Asia is particularly rich in non-marine turtles, boasting around 90 species
of tortoise and freshwater turtles. This represents almost one third of the
worlds species of turtles and tortoises - the potential for losing these animals
forever is very real and as such, would be a disaster on global proportions.

Two turtle experts discovered over 10,000 turtles in two markets in southern
china in just two days.

Melbourn Zoo's Conservation and Research Department on learning of the
threats have been in contact with the managers of the
TURTLE CONSERVATION & ECOLOGY PROJECT (TCEP).
They are based in Cuc Phoung. Vietnam.
If you would like more information on Melbourn Zoo's
conservation work with these turtles then contact
