Lectures
We would like to bring to your
attention our NATURAL HISTORY LECTURE SERVICE, since we formed in 1968,
we have been visiting schools
all over the UK, which include Nursery, Infants, Junior, Comprehensive
and Residentail schools and
we take this opportunity to give you some details of this service.
This service consists of approximately
four 1 hour lectures per day or
two 1 hour lectures per half
day with groups of upto 150 children per lecture.
Lectures are illustrated with
four wild animals.
( Anphibian, Reptile, Bird,
Mammal )
All Animals are taken amongst
the pupils for close visual appraisal and in most cases for handeling.
During our lectures the following
information is given:
Classification, Family, World
distribution, British distribution ( where applicable ), Relative rareness,
Commonality, Shyness, Boldness,
Discription of the animal identification, Differences etc.
We draw parallels where approropriate
to similar structures and functions in Man, Food, Reproduction,
Enemies and natural hazards.
Obviously each lecture is adapted to suit the age of the pupils
whether it be 3 years or 18
years old and where applicable we cover the national curriculum.
( With referance to the latter
we would like to point out all animals that are touched are completely
tame
and although we have never had
cause to use this we are more than adequatley covered by insurance. )
